Samuel D. Hunter

Samuel D. Hunter is the author of over a dozen produced plays including The Whale (Drama Desk Award, Lucille Lortel Award for Best Play, GLAAD Media Award), A Case for the Existence of God (New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award for Best New Play), and A Bright New Boise (Obie Award). In 2014, he was awarded a MacArthur "Genius Grant" Fellowship. A film version of The Whale, directed by Darren Aronofsky and starring Brendan Fraser, received two Academy Awards, including Best Actor. Originally from Idaho, Hunter lives in New York City with his husband and daughter.
